A lot of people ask me "How do you start a Mary Kay Business" and "Why did you start selling Mary Kay"
I will get to the "how" a little further down the post, but there are really six reasons women start a Mary Kay business.
The number one reason people start a Mary Kay business is to earn extra money. The average household income needs approximately an extra $200 a month for bills or extra debt they have obtained during the poor economy. Mary Kay is a great way to make extra money and you get to party and hang out with girlfriends while you do it.
The second reason people start a Mary Kay business is recognition. I cannot begin to tell you all the cool stuff I have earned from Mary Kay the company and my Unit Sales Director. You can earn free products, jewelry, hand bags, spa treatments and even vehicles but we will talk about that in a few minutes. I receive items as "thank you" constantly from the company which makes me feel adored and supported.
The third reason is self confidence. Prior to Mary Kay I was socially awkward and had a difficult time talking to people especially people I did not know. I was painfully shy. It comes down to this . . if you look better, you feel better about yourself. I have learned a lot more about make up and application and a LOT about skin care and how to take care of your skin. This alone has made a HUGE difference in my self esteem and confidence level. I love who I am growing into.
Another reason people start a Mary Kay business is the CARS!! I am sure you have seen the cars on the road. Let me tell you I am going to be one of those people. I will earn the use of a career car. Many women earn cars their first year of starting Mary Kay. From Malibu’s to Camry to Mustang, to the ultimate Cadillac. Each car is specifically made for you from Mary Kay. Inside the dash there is a plague that actually says “This car was made specifically for Kathleen Roney” The latest car off the line is the black BMW 3 series. Oh are they HOT! Mary Kay makes your car payments along with 80 percent of your insurance payments and any taxes and licensing. You essentially drive for free!
Yet another reason women start a Mary Kay business is advancement. I love that in Mary Kay there is no glass ceiling. I can move up as quickly as I like or feel comfortable doing. Whether you are an Independent Beauty Consultant like me or a National Sales Director, our pricing for product is the same. It is a level playing field.
The last reason women start up their own Mary Kay business is to be their own boss. I am the boss and CEO of my own company. Nobody can lay me off and I set my own schedule. I am building my future but I have extreme flexibility. Where else can you get that?

You and your Sales Director will also go over how you want to run your company and how much product you should order and keep in stock. Then it is really up to you how you handle stock, your advertising, and your business plan.
